Hi, I’m Michele Boschetti but friends call me Nure.
I’m Italian and started Telemark in 1989 and since then it has been my passion and my love.
There are two things that ignite my passion for Telemark, the first being the sense of precariousness and the constant need to find that equilibrium that free heel presents, the second, if skiing is a discipline that you do on the snow, Telemark is done in the snow.
In the early 90s, Telemark, was seen as a second rate sport, slow, difficult and only something that was done as a gathering with wooden skis and period clothing. I’ve always opposed this narrow view and began going down some very steep hills, some of them at the beginning being, the north side of Marmolada, the imposing routes of Gran Zebru, the north face of Pasquale and many more.
I’ve always looked for speed and some semblance of danger, however, what really motivated me to this sport and to try some riskier slopes was the need to show those that thought Telemark was limiting and an old fashioned sport, it was in fact a discipline that should be respected and all you need is a desire and a bit of courage.
With the arrival of plastic ski boots and bindings and higher performing skis, everything has become more “simple” but not necessarily less fascinating and satisfying.
Today, I go a little slower and am a little more cautious, I don’t seek the extreme, but nothing else has changed since my very first turn, because every time I kneel, I still feel that thrill and childish emotion.”
