Hannah Fasiang

Hello,
I am a 16 year old telemark skier. As soon as I took my first step, my parents put me on skis. I started skiing at 14 months of age, and have been telemark skiing since I was nine years old. After years skiing with my parents, I joined the Alpine Meadows Telemark Team in 2007. While it was my dad who taught me my technique, it was my coach who enabled me to build my confidence enough to ski the big lines I ski today.
Two seasons ago I was old enough to compete in my first telemark competition at my home mountain, Alpine Meadows. Later that season I traveled to Crested Butte to compete in the National Telemark Extremes. I have since competed twice more and have two wins under my belt. I have been pushing myself in the steeps and have begun to jump cliffs. Early this season I was only hitting small rocks here and there, but by the end of the season I had jumped a 15-20 footer. I plan on going bigger…but I can’t tell my mom that! I have also been experimenting in the park. Boxes and jumps mostly, but nothing super sketchy . . . yet!

My skiing is not limited to resorts only. I am also an avid backcountry skier. I have my Avalanche 1 Certificate, and plan to get my Avi. 2 soon. In addition, I am a member on Babes in the Backcountry, an organization geared for women, run by Leslie Ross. At 10 years old, I became the youngest Babe, and even made it into their promotional video.
To me skiing is a way to explore the great outdoors, meet new people, push myself to be the best I can be, and of course have tons of fun!
